Firbank Grammar School was founded in 1909, established as an all girls’ boarding school. The school’s mission is, “To provide all our students with an outstanding education, one that prepares them for the journey beyond school.” The students from the school will develop a strong foundation in leadership and recognize the importance of discipline in teamwork. Firbank Grammar School offers students with a variety of courses in sports, arts, music, dance, science and so forth. Students from the school achieved outstanding scores, placing Firbank Grammar School in the Top 10 private schools in Victoria to accomplish high VCE scores. Additionally, 37% of the students achieved more than 95 points in ATAR.

Curriculum and Qualifications

Firbank Grammar School’s curriculum is designed to teaching and effectively guides students to strive to success. The school sets high academic standards for the student body to follow and in doing so; the staffs provide limitless support to ensure all students meet their full potentials. In high school, students have the opportunity to choose from over 35 courses that allow students to discover their hidden talents, interests and potentials. Accommodation

Accommodation-wise, the school provides students with dorms and students will have the option to board alone or share the room. The dorms are situated on campus grounds provided with maximum security and on-site staff and teachers to assist students.

English Language Support

International students are required to attend ESL classes to receive assistance from staff to help develop their oral and written skills.

Accommodation

Students without parents or guardians in Australia must board at the school. The school does not allow nor provide homestay services. Each Boarding House has six academic staff: Head of House, Assistant Head of House and four other academic staff. Two of the academic staff live in apartments within the house, as does the House Assistant.  Every student has an academic tutor.

Philosophy : Special Features, Brief History

Gippsland Grammar School is a coeducational Anglican school was founded in 1971 from the merging of two schools; St. Anne’s Church of England Girls’ Grammar School and Gippsland Grammar School. The school was one of the first schools to be established in the state of Victoria. Presently, the school accepts students from Kindergarten through high school; age 3 to Year 12. Students can board from middle school onwards.

The school is focused on developing each student’s unique skills in academia, health, personal and social spheres under Christian guidance to become valuable members of society. The school has a special program for students in Year 9 to help them effectively prepare for high school

Students in Year 10 are required to take core subjects and will have the option to choose electives of their interest. Subjects offered by the school aim to provide an important foundation for students to prepare for the future onwards.

Academic Achievement

In 2013, students scored an average score of 76.06 and 27.5% of students scored ATAR over 90%, positioning the students from the school in the Top 10 scorers of the state of Victoria. The curriculum taught by Gippsland Grammar School is based on the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). However, the school adapts the subjects to suit the interests and needs of all students by providing the basic foundation for each student. These subjects include Mathematics, Languages, Social Studies and IT. The courses aim to develop the student’s talents and abilities from an early age and additionally, to create a strong bond between teachers and students. High school students are expected to follow the school’s curriculums closely and uphold their individual responsibilities at the school. There are special programmes at the school to help the student identify and build up his or her own special talent. Additionally, the school collaborates with Monash University in a special programme aimed at students with exceptional grades. Students meeting this criterion will be included in the project and continue their studies at Monash University after graduation.

Accommodation

Students will be boarding at the Blackwood House, which is a modern and spacious dormitory separating the boys and girls. Each dorm has an on-site staff and tutor to help students with their studies in the evening and on weekends. Each dormitory is equipped with a lounge area, recreation room and a living room.

Curriculum and Qualification

The students who have studied in Kardinia International College can have their own timetable. The students can choose the subject by themselves as the students can learn in specific subject to continue in major at University. In one classroom, there are only 17 students. Every year, the students will have the opportunity to travel to Japan and for students in Years 9 the student will live in Chiang Mai, Thailand for eight weeks. Also the school have a lot of activities for the students to join too.

Pathways to University 

The students who study in Kardinia International College have the good result that everyone can intake to University. The school also promise to ensure all students to develop their skills and knowledge for access to University. In each year, the Year 12 students from Kardinia International College have higher test scores than average scores in the same states.

Accommodation

International students and students from other regions in Australia stay with Australian families provided by the school. Students who stay with Australian families can learn Australian culture and practice English faster than staying in a boarding school as the students can use only English language in the homestay to communicate. The school has the service for the student to coordinate with housing problem. All students live in a safe, warm and well cared environment. Also, all the students have their own bedroom. The host family will prepare all meals and laundry for the students and provide Internet in the house.

Intensive English Support

When the international students arrive at school. The Student will sit English Proficiency Test and compare in level. The Students will learn English in small classes with teachers who have specialized in teaching English. Normally, the international students will start studying English from level 2 or 3 to level 7 to be passed to regular classes.

Support Services for International Students

The authorities of International Students is responsible for the well-being of each international student at the school. Their roles is to coordinate, manage orientation and monitor each student, ensuring each student is well cared during their stays. The authorities will advise the new student how to open bank account and purchase uniforms.

Over 90% of students from the school receive university acceptance letters from universities across Victoria and over 60% of students achieved an Enter Score of 70% or more. 50% of students received offers from Monash University and the University of Melbourne, including other recognized universities across Australia.

English Language Support

Mater Christi has an English teaching programme for international students. The classes are focused on developing the student’s language skill through classroom participation and assigning research papers.

Accommodation

The school dorms are located in a safe and friendly environment. The dorms are able to house 40 students and there will be on-site staff to assist students 24 hours a day. The rooms are equipped with telephones and internet. Additionally, the dorm staff provide extra classes for students who require assistance regarding school or personal matters. For students who opt out of boarding, students can choose to stay with homestay families as well.

Additionally, the school provides once a year free transfer services to and from the airport.
