Our focus

At Geelong Grammar School, our focus every day, week, month and year, is to inspire all who comprise our living and learning community with the mindset and competencies to flourish.  We do this by enabling a holistic education, which prioritises learning and academic skills, as well as the values of compassion, curiosity, creativity, leadership, authenticity and perseverance.

Academic Development

Our rigorous academic programmes and supportive learning culture encourages our students to discover their academic gifts within the framework of developing skills, confidence and the capacity for lifelong learning.

Positive Education

Developed in collaboration with Professor Martin Seligman and the University of Pennsylvania, our pioneering programme focuses on cultivating positive emotions and character traits, encouraging students to lead purposeful and meaningful lives. Positive Education is taught at each year level, at every campus and across all aspects of school life.

Timbertop®

Timbertop is our unique campus nestled in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. All Year 9 students must attend the Timbertop programme.  This provides a transformational year of challenge and adventure, enabling students to develop personal skills and qualities beyond those possible in a traditional school environment.

Creative Education

We are a community of learners who collaborate, experiment and explore – where the curiosity of our students is more powerful than any inhibitions of fear or failure.  The Creative Education framework is designed to nurture inquiry, build ‘student agency’ and ultimately enable students to be agile and adaptive in a changing world.
