St. Michael’s Grammar School was founded in 1895, initially as the only female school. Nowadays, it has become a coeducational school and is open to kindergarten through 12th grade. The school is focused on giving students a better understanding of life and living together with others, under the basics of understanding, acceptance and respect for others from diverse cultures and livelihoods.


The school is located in Kilda Street, 5 km from Melbourne city center. It is easily accessible by train, tram and bus.

Curriculum and Qualifications

St. Michael’s Grammar School’s 12th grade students will receive a Victorian Certificate of Education or VCE from a total of 45 subjects. Students will also be able to choose additional courses in the subjects they are interested in, such as science and management etc.

English Language Support

ESL classes are available for students in grades 11 and 12 which are taught by teachers who specialize in teaching English for International students for many years.

Pathways to University

St. Michael’s Grammar School, along with leading universities in Melbourne has organized the Melbourne Schools Partnership Program to award students with top scores. In the past year, many international students have won this award in different field of education as follows:

  • Arts, Commerce and Engineering at the University of Melbourne
  • Accounting and Finance at Monash University
  • Information Technology at Monash
  • Occupational Therapy at LaTrobe University.

Academic Achievement / Other Notable Achievements

In 2013, the students who enrolled in VCE examination scored prominently in the following.

  • 3 % of students have an ATAR rating of more than 98 points.
  • 12 % of students have an ATAR rating of more than 95 points.
  • 26 % of students have an ATAR rating of more than 90 points.
  • 44 % of students have an ATAR rating of more than 80 points.
